Caleb was recommended by a family member. Caleb became our financial advisor after the loss of a family member who had nothing in order. Caleb has taken my wife and myself through a step by step process on how to get our financial affairs and estate planning in order. Instead of jumping right onto business during our first session, Caleb took the time to get to know not only my wife and myself but our family, our interests and what our lifestyle was. Through our sessions We not only have made a connection, but he has become a true friend and has made us feel like family . He has been a pleasure to work with and we look forward many years of his guidance and support. Thank you Caleb Eric and Kasey

Caleb Stapp at Deep Creek Financial Planning is exceptional! From the moment we started our conversation, Caleb was open and honest about how he could help. He took the time to understand my unique situation and even suggested we might not be the best fit, offering alternative options to explore. His kindness and attentive listening stood out as he gave wonderful feedback to my thoughts and ideas. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a thoughtful and honest wealth advisor!

Caleb has been outstanding to work with. His knowledge and expertise are impressive, and he genuinely cares about his clients. He’s a great guy to talk to and has been incredibly helpful with all my financial questions.

Who We Work With

Our clients rarely call themselves wealthy. They’re people who worked steadily, saved diligently, and now want to make sure it lasts. Here’s who we serve best.

Retirees and near-retirees. Deep Creek Financial Planning focuses on people who are already retired or getting close. The questions we help answer are the ones that keep retirees up at night: Will I run out of money? How do I lower my lifetime tax bill? How do I leave the legacy I want?

Households with $500,000 or more saved for retirement. Our minimum is $500,000 in retirement savings. That’s where planning around taxes, Social Security timing, and withdrawals starts to make a real difference.

Married couples. Most of our clients are married couples planning together. We make sure both spouses understand the plan, not just the one who usually handles the money.

Christian families. Many of our clients share our Christian faith. Caleb brings a biblical view of stewardship and generosity into planning when clients want that. Charitable and church giving is part of the conversation from the start.

Washington educators. Teachers and school staff with a Washington State retirement (DRS) pension have specific decisions to make about pension options and timing. We work with educators across Stevens and Spokane counties.

People who value advice. Our best clients know their retirement is too important to leave to chance, and they want a guide rather than a do-it-yourself platform.

Why We Stay Small

Deep Creek Financial Planning is a small, independent practice. Caleb Stapp serves about 50 families, and he’s picky about who he takes on.

That’s on purpose. Larger firms in the area serve hundreds of families. We’d rather know each of ours well. When you work with us, you work with Caleb, not a rotating cast of advisors. He knows your kids’ names, your goals for the cabin, and what you want your giving to look like.

Because the list is small, we can’t take on everyone. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you honestly and point you toward someone who is.

Flexible Payment Options

You get to choose how you pay for advice. Deep Creek Financial Planning offers a flexible fee structure:

  • Percentage of assets managed. The most common choice for clients who want ongoing investment management and planning.
  • Flat-fee financial planning. A set price for a full plan, without handing over your investments.
  • Monthly planning fee. Ongoing planning support for a set monthly amount.
  • Hourly. Advice on a specific question, billed by the hour.

We’ll walk through which option makes the most sense for your situation in your first meeting.

No commissions on investments. We don’t charge commissions on investments. Some clients need life insurance, long-term care coverage, or an annuity. When that’s the case, Caleb may be paid a commission by the insurance company. He’ll always tell you what that commission is before you decide, so there are no surprises.

What "Fiduciary" Means Here

A fiduciary is required to put your interests ahead of their own. Caleb gives investment advice as a fiduciary and holds the CPFA (Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor) designation.

There’s one nuance we want to be upfront about. Some accounts, like cash set aside in an emergency fund, aren’t covered by a fiduciary standard. We’ll always be clear about which accounts are which. We’d rather explain the fine print than have you find it later.

Where We Serve

Deep Creek Financial Planning serves retirees north of Spokane, Washington. We meet locally in Deer Park, Chewelah, and North Spokane, and work with clients in Loon Lake, Newport, and throughout Stevens, Spokane, and Pend Oreille counties.

We also meet virtually with clients in Washington, Texas, California, Virginia, Georgia, and Ohio.

Who We're Probably Not the Right Fit For

We’d rather be honest up front. We’re likely not the best fit if you:

  • Have less than $500,000 saved for retirement
  • Want a do-it-yourself platform or help with day trading
  • Are mainly looking for the lowest possible fee rather than ongoing advice

If that’s you, we’re happy to point you toward a resource that fits better.
